Course Overview
Japanese yoga is therapeutic form of yoga based on the principles of Traditional Chinese and Japanese Medicine. Juliet teaches a style of Japanese yoga called Zen Ki Yoga®.
In Japanese yoga the poses change according to the season and target specific organs of the body. There is a strong emphasis on building core and back strength and also a focus on flexibility, the mind-body connection, breathing and relaxation. Japanese yoga can be beneficial for many chronic conditions including back pain, digestive issues, reproductive issues, weight gain, anxiety and depression.
This class is suitable for all ages and levels of ability. Variations to poses are provided to allow students to work within their own limits. Please bring a mat and a strap or scarf.
Over 50s/Active Retired
The classes are suitable for people with common ailments ie osteoporosis, back problems, MS, arthritis, blood pressure, etc. Also excellent for people suffering from insomnia. Hatha Yoga is a gentle type of yoga, yet is very effective. Come and improve your flexibility, health, and well being. You will experience improved mobility, breathing and a healthier lifestyle. Wear loose clothing and bring a yoga mat and a warm blanket. The tutor, Frankie Heany, is 15 years qualified as a yoga instructor with YTI (Yoga Therapy Ireland).
Hatha means “union”, and the intention of this class is to unify your body and mind. Hatha yoga is a slightly slower paced stretching class with simple breathing exercises and some meditation. This class is great for beginners or to expand on your regular practice
The Tutor, Gosia Maughan is a Yoga and Pilates teacher with the 200H yoga teaching qualification and Pilates ITEQ qualification. She is a strong believer that teaching is more than giving instructions, as great importance lies with promoting a strong community spirit that encourages people to treat exercise as a tool for fostering a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing.
Gosia Maughan is the owner of “Holistic therapies by Gosia” where she teaches both Pilates and Yoga classes. She is also a holistic massage therapist.
Vinyasa Yoga–Breathwork
Reconnect with your inner self through the calming breathing technique and emerge in a moment with a gentle flow of asanas. Vinyasa is a style of yoga characterized by stringing postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath.
Vinyasa classes offer a variety of postures and no two classes are ever alike.
The variable nature of Vinyasa Yoga helps to develop a more balanced body as well as prevent repetitive motion injuries that can happen if you are always doing the same thing every day.
As a philosophy, Vinyasa recognizes the temporary nature of things. We enter into a posture, are there for a while and then leave.
Beginners and Improvers welcome.
